Currently in Nova Scotia, Canada

It has been some four weeks since my last post and hard to believe how quickly the time has flown by.

I’ve heard many times, the statement “ The only constant in life is change”. This certainly rings true for Sam and I as we go through our life. By our design or the ebb and flow of the universe, there are always course corrections and forks in the road just waiting to be explored. We like the adventure of not knowing where we will end up but we are still planners. Thanks to our complimentary project management skills we organized what we consider the basic needs for this wanderlust. Transportation, some accommodation, medical and general insurance coverage and a rough plan for our route.

Virtually all our personal belongings ready for storage

No work, no debt, no problems

These have been weeks of  ‘lasts’ as we barrel forward like juggernauts. Last meetings with work teams, last night shifts, last day shifts, last trips to Red Deer and last day in uniform.  With everything in motion there’s no stopping now and why would we want to, we are going to travel Europe for a year! No more alarm clocks, Woo Hoo!!

The rental property sold too, bonus!

We’ve sold both our Calgary house and the rental property in Red Deer and all but one item off our furniture list. We sold our Jeep, we’ve passed on many items to charities and family members. There are still a few odds and sods to donate and/or sell.  Overall we have cleared away all the fluff and removed all debts and monthly payments from our cares. We are finacially free and loving it!

We would like to share some of the planning and lessons we’ve learned so far making this dream a reality. I will post them over the coming weeks as we slide ever closer to launch day: November 18, 2018. Follow along and share our posts with your friends and families.

Take care and keep on travelling,

Dan&Sam
